Little Manatee River hike

There are several caches along the 6.5 mile trail at Manatee State Park which Mary and Phil had been wanting to do. We decided this would be the day but thought maybe we would just do half of the trail. I studied my new gps in preparation for it's second day on the trails.

Mary and Phil wait on the bridge while I lag behind. This was a beautiful trail through old Florida countryside with tall palms and lots of vegetation. No condos were in site! We decided to do the 6.5 miles plus perhaps another half mile when we retraced our steps looking for a lost walking stick.

Geocaching leads to all sorts of wonderful discoveries. Otherwise we might never have known about this great little restaurant on the water's edge.

We were so proud of ourselves we decided we deserved refreshments and nourishment. Many of our caching trips end this way. Not only was the food good but we had live entertainment also.

Gosh, was it this day or another that we stopped in the Turtle Beach Pub for nourishment after some geocaching. That is another fun little place down on Siesta Key.
