2 states 2 go

We spent our final night in Florida at the Ocala Elks but since they were having a dance we went to a nearby sports bar to watch the Razorbacks defeat South Carolina ... #7 prevailed over #9. We had no clue that Reid was hanging out with the quarterback after the game. It is hard to know who is the happier of the two. Woo Pig Soouuuiiiieeeeee!

Next stop - Montgomery, Alabama to visit the cousins. We found a great spot at the Gunter Hill Corps of Engineers campground alongside a river just a few miles west of Montgomery. We were again enjoying the fall foliage.

Sunday afternoon was no problem for me to round up some firewood since there were only two other campers..

The next afternoon we left for Mississippi. When we got to Tupelo we stopped for gas and spotted the Elvis Presley Campground on Lake Elvis Presley sign nearby. Leon does like all things Elvis so off we went. It was a little county campground that suited us just fine. Leon watched the bats and we used the remainder of our firewood.

As the flames died and the wood turned to ashes it all became just another pleasant memory. It is one of the best trips we have taken. We made it to Hot Springs on Tuesday just before the rains came.

You will find us back at the dead end until the mood strikes again!

Monte Sano SP, AL

We rolled from Searcy right across 64 to Memphis and then dropped down to Corinth, Mississippi where we stopped for lunch and picked up a couple of MS geocaches. The cotton was white and fluffy and appeared ready for harvest.

Our destination was Monte Sano State Park on the other side of Huntsville. We did not stop for astronaut training. I wonder what will happen with their Space Camp program!

Monte Sano, the mountain of health, rose abruptly on the outskirts of Huntsville, Alabama and what a beautiful place.

We walked the North Plateau Trail that led us to the overlook, to several geocaches, and to the Werner Von Braun Observatory. It is a shame we did not have more time on our schedule to spend here.

There I am signing the log for my first Alabama cache.

We joined Leon's cousins Nancy, Tony, and Terri, and their friends for a delicious supper and campfire. The temperatures dropped as we ascended the mountain and we would be in long pants and long sleeves for several days. Leon doesn't like the flash on my new camera!
