Geyserville

Oh what a pleasant surprise! A little rundown town not quite ready for tourists! Or so it seems! There are eateries, eclectic shops and bed and breakfasts in the area. The town was named for the hot water springs found nearby in the 19th century and mistaken for geysers. There are even 800 or so people living here. This mural was quite lovely at one time. It is next to a spot in a pile of dirt and rocks that could make a really cute park.

Several old buildings line the main avenue but not much was happening on a Sunday morning.

It was the perfect opportunity to hop out and take pictures. A few rv's rolled through and the bicyclists were popular on the back roads.

In the millworking shop next door was a surprising array of vintage woodworking tools.

We continued out Dry Creek Road and visited an overlook at Sonoma Lake. We had debated staying here but what seems close based on mileage is not so close figuring the amount of time it takes to drive the winding roads.

We reflected on the Dry Creek Valley and the beautiful scenery we had seen in these various hills and valleys.

Soon we were winding our way through a redwood forest. They weren't the giant sequoias you see in eastern California but the smaller coastal redwoods. I am sure we will see plenty more as we travel north.
