The old downtown was bustling with people wandering the streets in the historic downtown district that takes you back to the 19th century on Saturday. We joined in the fun inspecting several of the quaint shops. We found it to me much quieter on a Sunday morning tour.
I always enjoy looking at historic homes and a little gingerbread doesn't hurt. Yep, they have them in Bastrop.
Dry counties are not our favorite and not to worry. We chose this cutesy little place, Bastrop Brewhouse, as a good place to sit in the sun, sip a local beer, eat lunch, and look at the Colorado River, after we watched the Razorbacks defeat the Texas Aggies in basketball at Cindy's.
As we left and wandered through the common area I just happened to pick up a geocache than can almost be seen in this picture. Speaking of the chamber: that was our first stop in town and we were greeted as we should have been by Susan, the chamber president. We got the needed handouts and they also have a fine app for Bastrop.
A river walk is always a nice option in any town. Bastrop is no exception. After lunch we strolled down the steps and enjoyed the Colorado River.
Leon was a little baffled at the electric hookups all along the walk.
The Sugar Shack was a fun stop. Where else does one find an assortment of dried critters covered in chocolate. Leon even found all of his old candy bar favorites: Look, Abba-zabba.
